Turning the big five-oh was a big deal for our longstanding client, Dartington Crystal. The last remaining commercial-scale glass manufacturer has been flying the ‘made in Britain’ flag from its Devon home since 1967 and had plenty of new products to promote.
But sometimes you have to look back to move forward. Stepping back in to the 1960’s, our birthday homeware PR campaign was a blend of culture and crystal. A nostalgic look through the design archive allowed us to reintroduce long-forgotten collections, share retro adverts and celebrate the talent of glass pioneer Frank Thrower, the company’s first head of design.
Long forgotten ‘Scandinavian scandals’ of wife swapping and the hygge lifestyle were bought to life, thanks to old TV and newspaper footage, alongside testimonials from some of the original Swedish glassblowers.
Celebrating the journey allowed us to refresh perceptions about the brand and win over a new generation of crystal aficionados with special anniversary collections. Hip hip hooray!
